The Magic Park of Feldafing

EUROPAN 13
Runner up
Feldafing | Germany

Magic Park is a project which wants to connect again with tradition, with the path as a new look to the future. The past of Telecommunications School as well as Feldafing Camp shows a clear hierarchical relationship between the group of Sturmbruckhaus and the rest of the built elements, understood as cabins, simple wood architecture that would not compete with te beautiful, white pavilions, the real protagonists of the intervention.

Wood. Wood, in Feldafing in particular and in the area of Sternberg lake in general, is one of the materials in excellence. From the simplest and humblest examples of the fencing, os sheds, to the most showing structures, complex roofs and expressive facades, wood turns into the building material of Magic Park.

Because it looks as if it has been there for ages. Because is the most natural. The intervention extents midway between the villecolonie, Lenné Park and the forest. Magic Park is seen as a great green landscape corridor which communicates in a longitudinal way the village of Feldafing with Garathausen, freeing the transversal path of the biotopes associated to the streams of Eichgraben and Hagergraben.

The pre-existing tree structure is preserved in its totality strengthened by the position of the buildings and the paths route.Magic Park is structured around the visual perspectives built among the different elements (ways, architecture and trees) of inside and between them and the lake. The position and shape of the new buildings together with the introduction of new strategic public viewpoints (towers, the bridge, and the casino) allow the new opening of the Telecommunications School to the Sternberg Lake.
