Re-Setting Varadero ///

Re-Setting Varadero | New Fishmarket in Motril

Final Master Project
Motril | Spain

A design process by contrast, creating a new link between the Port of Motril and his own area of origin, the Varadero Quarter. By optimizing the existing access and tempering the sea views from the city. The new Fish Market in the Port of Motril aims to recover the old connection between the fishermen’s quarter with the port infrastructure, without forgetting, however, the productive nature of the seaport, thus taking advantage of the ethnological nature of the auction fish as a work environment and a close link between land and sea.
In short, the connection between the infrastructure and the city is sougth, by the own Fish Market typology. This way, the Fish Market appears as a linking element, providing a public space almost free of heavy traffic and establishing as a new entrance to the new leisure area within the port. An urban diaphragm to improve the interconnection between the industry and the long-standing tradition of fishing in the area.
